  • Chainmail Bikini was created by Shamus Young and Shawn Gaston. Shamus wrote the words, Shawn drew the pictures and sometimes wrote more words. Chainmail Bikini originally appeared on Fear the Boot, beginning in September of 2007. Chainmail Bikini began immediately following Shamus’s hugely popular comic DM of the Rings, and features (sort of) many of the same characters. It lasted for 51 strips before ending in the spring of 2008 due to artist burnout. During a redesign on FeartheBoot.com, the comic was lost forever. Or so the world thought! We are proud to announce that Chainmail Bikini is now returning to Shawntionary.com, where it will stay forever. For eeee veeeeerrrr.

  • This week we will investigate what tools wearing khakis and button-downs call “the business world” (as if a world free of enterprise exists) by analyzing some basic entry-level jobs and their descriptions. This is Part 1 in a series. PART 1: Why intelligent people can’t get work Humanity has lost its faith in humanity. The signs are everywhere: Posters in bathrooms telling us how to properly wash our hands. Frozen meat packaging instructing us on how to thaw it. Our mother’s constant (and not-so-subtle) reminders that sex can lead to pregnancy – even when she knows you lost your virginity 10 years ago. It’s obvious that mankind has lost faith in the mental capacity of its peers.

In work and play, technology is there to capture the moments and bridge the gaps of time and space. • The Goal: Your current blog at abc.blogspot.com is hosted on the Blogger platform but you now want to move this blog from Blogger to WordPress (self-hosted) with a personal domain name (say abc.com). The Problem: WordPress.org provides an easy option to automatically import all your old blog posts and reader comments from Blogger into your new WordPress blog but there are still some bigger problems that are hard to ignore: 1. Some of your previous articles on the blogspot blog could be ranking very high in search engines for certain keywords but once you shift these articles to a new address, you might lose all that organic search traffic. 2. You cannot use a 301 redirect with Blogger to inform search engines that your site has permanently moved a new web address thus losing PageRank and other Google Juice.

  • The Yahoo! small business services unit, which includes the hosted ecommerce platform used by thousands of online merchants, may soon be sold, clearing the way for Yahoo! to focus on its core businesses, according to published reports. News that Yahoo! had garnered some interest for the unit from corporate buyers was first reported in a Reuters article on the 22nd of September, and was soon the buzz at the National Retail Federation's Shop.org Summit in Las Vegas. "I am surprised that they would be getting out of the ecommerce space when so many other companies are trying to get in," said a Shop.org Summit attendee who believed that ecommerce was one of the brightest spots in the current recession, adding that several new companies had released shopping carts or ecommerce platforms in the past year. According to the Reuters article, Yahoo! was asking between $350 and $500 million for the unit, but might consider a lower sale price if the divestiture was considered to be a strategic

  • October 22nd is the big day for the official release of the latest iteration of the Windows operating system. Many have dubbed it the savior that will bring the glory days back to Redmond. Many have said that it will pretty much wipe clean the foul stench left behind by Windows Vista. I, and a few others, think that Windows 7 will not be the success most pundits are proclaiming. How can I say that? I will give you 10 reasons why Windows 7 could easily fail.
  • We don't know exactly how to say this without overloading your nerd subsystem, but this R2D2 unit packs eight consoles, an integrated sound system and a projector for throwing your Jet Grind Radio sessions onto a wall. It awaits just past the break.

  • Since man first touched the moon and brought pieces of it back to Earth, scientists have thought that the lunar surface was bone dry. But new observations from three different spacecraft have put this notion to rest with what has been called "unambiguous evidence" of water across the surface of the moon. The new findings, detailed in the Sept. 25 issue of the journal Science, come in the wake of further evidence of lunar polar water ice by NASA's Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter and just weeks before the planned lunar impact of NASA's LCROSS satellite, which will hit one of the permanently shadowed craters at the moon's south pole in hope of churning up evidence of water ice deposits in the debris field. The moon remains drier than any desert on Earth, but the water is said to exist on the moon in very small quantities. One ton of the top layer of the lunar surface would hold about 32 ounces of water, researchers said.
  • What can I tell you of the day Antarctica died, at least the one you’re familiar with? It is a tragic tale that has irrevocably changed my life, and not for the better. We had been at the great fishing grounds for less than a day, when Lester told me about his plan to swim to Japan. Now I thought like everybody else as far as Lester was concerned, he was having one of his delusional moments which wouldn’t be unusual. Then he dove into the water and started swimming north, he disappeared from our sight and wasn’t heard from again. This didn’t really upset anyone, including his wife who thought he was the worlds largest pain in the ass, an opinion shared by the vast majority of the colony. Now as I’ve said before he wasn’t seen or heard from again, not for nearly 3 years. Then one day Phil was out on the far ice and he saw a large black mass moving quickly toward the colony, and he hurried back as fast as a one legged penguin can hop and slide.

  • I don’t know how many of you know this trick. Did you know that you can hide a ZIP file inside a JPG image? It has been 10 or more years that i know this trick but never (hmm maybe not) have shared this with others. Actually it is not a trick. It is a logical “file format” hack that allows you to add a zip file inside a JPEG image and use both of the formats by just renaming the file. It works 100% on Windows systems, hence these systems tend to identify the file format from the extension. What we will create is a big image with 4 thumbnailed images that when renamed to main.zip it will iclude the thumbnail’s original images. For those that just want to see the final file, here it is:
